Whiteout (best record I've heard this year)
Unsurprisingly Norway's wondrous label Rune Grammofon is responsible for this jazz trio's engrossing third LP. [..] What results is impeccable jazz musicianship, but the kind that's very listenable and tuneful, simultaneously unpretentious and impressive. Some of the climaxes even take on sort of that archetypal post-rock grandeur, but the stateliness never sounds forced or cliched.
